Bangladesh Gold Price Rises After Four Cuts to Tk 223,074 a Bhori

The Bangladesh gold price has risen again after four consecutive cuts. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 a bhori, taking it to Tk 223,074.

The new rates took effect at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, according to a BAJUS press release. The association said it adjusted the Bangladesh gold price because the cost of locally traded refined gold had gone up.

Other grades rose as well. A bhori of 21-carat gold now costs Tk 213,043, up Tk 2,100. The 18-carat grade went up by Tk 1,750 to Tk 182,950, and traditional-method gold rose Tk 1,458 to Tk 149,474.

The increase follows reductions on October 13, 22, 23 and 25. Together, those four cuts took Tk 10,439 off the price of a bhori of 22-carat gold. The latest rise recovers only a small part of that fall in the Bangladesh gold price.

Silver prices did not change. A bhori of 22-carat silver stays at Tk 3,849, 21-carat at Tk 3,674 and 18-carat at Tk 3,149, while traditional-method silver remains Tk 2,391.

The release says VAT is included in the 22-carat rate but does not say so for the other grades. It also gives no indication of how the new price may affect buying.
